Bohotin Domains, a wine identity hidden in the heart of Moldova

The essence of the wine produced in Bohotin Domains lies in the result of the perfect relationship between the different types of varieties and the existing climate and soil. Bohotin Domains winery is located in the Bohotin village district of Răducăneni municipality, Iași province, owned by Daniel Panaite, the winemaker is Ilie Ciomagă. Grapes of Busuioacă de Bohotin, Muscat Ottonel, Fetească Negră, Fetească Regală, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Tămâioasă Româneasc and Feteasc Albă varieties are grown here.

Wine Bohotin Domains represents the new business identity of the former company “Bucium 1949”, a grape-growing plant near Iasi, legally known as SC Agroindustrila Bucium SRL, a producer of regular wine, sparkling wine, fruit spirits and wine by-products.

With access to European funds, starting in 2017, the parent company operates a viticulture program in the Bohotin District, Cozmești, Moşna, with the stated goal of becoming the largest producer of Bohotin Busuioacă in Romania. Two other European projects fund the modernization of the laboratory and marketing activities. In Pohuten, a new winery was also started to be built, near the farms, in order to process the grapes in the shortest possible time, a crucial fact in preserving the aromas of the fresh grapes. 2019 marks the cornerstone of the new Bohotin Domains winery, where there is nowhere else than the home of the dedicated cultivar, Busuioacă de Bohotin. Bohotin is the only place in the country where the Busuioacă de Bohotin variety is grown, transformed, and bottled into the wine that bears his name. In 2022, four of the nine lineups that will delight Thursday’s tasting have been awarded in the National Wine Bag-In-Box competition.
