Homemade pretzels with salt – how to prepare
There are three stages of preparing pretzels with salt before the final stage of baking. First, prepare the pretzel dough, which you let rise. Then shape the pretzels and boil them in baking soda. Glaze and sprinkle with salt, and finally bake.
How to make dough for pretzels
Prepare a cup or a glass bowl in which you dissolve the yeast in hot water with the sugar. Mix well until the mixture is smooth, then let stand for about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, put the flour and salt in a large bowl. Mix well, then make a small place in the middle and pour in the activated yeast mayo. Add the oil and mix all the ingredients well until you get a compact paste.
Pour the pretzel batter onto the flour-dusted table and knead for about 2 minutes. Then shape it into a sphere shape, cover it with a cooling sheet and let it rest for 10 minutes.
After these 10 minutes, sprinkle a little more flour on the dough and on the work surface and thus knead the homemade pretzel dough with salt for 2 minutes. Thus, the dough will become elastic and you can shape it. Let the dough rest again for 20 minutes, covered with aluminum foil.
Divide the risen dough into about 8 to 10 equal parts. Shape each part of the dough into a long strip no more than 1 cm thick.
Form the letter U from the strip of dough on the work table. The next step is to bring the edges of the dough, twisting them twice in the middle, on the middle part, leaving equal spaces between them . We advise you to press them slightly underneath and place the pretzel thus formed in the baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
Do this with each pretzel separately, but no more than the number of pretzels that fit in the tray. If you have two trays, you can shape them all.
Leave the pretzels in the pan for about 20 minutes to expand before boiling them.
How to cook and bake homemade pretzels with salt
Before baking the pretzels, turn the oven on to 200 degrees Celsius.
Put a saucepan with 3 liters of water on the flame of the stove and add 3 tablespoons of baking soda to the water. You know that baking soda helps soften the dough after baking.
Take each pretzel, being very careful not to deform it, and drop it into boiling water. Leave it for 20-30 seconds and remove it with a whisk. Put it back in the baking sheet. When you have covered the entire surface of the board with pretzels, but with a distance of 2 cm between them, you can glaze them.
